2. Gems and Jewellery


Sri Lanka is famous for producing 70 varieties of high-quality gem stones. These precious stones are mined in Rathnapura which is known as the “city of gems”. The expensive gems are sapphires and blue moonstones. These gems can be made into a beautiful piece of jewellery such as necklace, bracelet and rings.

If you are buying these gem and jewellery product it is recommended that you buy through a shop which is certified by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association.

  5. Very few know how rare and unique Sri Lankan gems are. Specially the blue sapphire that’s been found in Sri Lanka. The gem Industry is growing with buyers from Russia and China seeing the potential in Sri Lankan market. Blogs like these would help bring even more awareness to the world about the Sri Lankan Gem industry.
